Overview

International buyers attending one phase of the 140th Canton Fair (Autumn 2026) at Guangzhou’s Pazhou complex use this playbook for Pazhou vs Tianhe hotels, Line 8 / shuttle / private-car logic, factory-day pacing, and a Guangzhou–Shenzhen add-on—not another dates-and-badge recap. China Travel X designs private custom ground days with no shopping-stop tours and can arrange flights and hotels as part of the journey.

Key takeaways

  • Book Pazhou (Haizhu) if hall days dominate; use Tianhe or Zhujiang New Town only when off-complex meetings justify a longer Line 8 or car commute during fair surge pricing.
  • Metro Line 8 (Pazhou / Xingangdong) is the crowded baseline on fair mornings; hotel shuttles and private cars win when you have samples, jet lag, or a factory clock.
  • One official phase is five exhibition days (15–19 Oct, 23–27 Oct, or 31 Oct–4 Nov 2026); add an arrival buffer plus at most one factory visit—often a half day in Guangzhou, Foshan, or Shenzhen.
  • A +1 Shenzhen tech day is a 30–40 minute high-speed-rail hop (Nanshan or Huaqiangbei reconnaissance)—not a shopping circuit; APEC Shenzhen sits in mid-November, after the fair.
  • Pre-register and collect the Overseas Buyer Badge through official Canton Fair channels; China Travel X is not the organizer. Confirm dates on cantonfair.org.cn before you ticket.

International buyers attending one phase of the 140th Canton Fair (Autumn 2026) at the Pazhou complex use this playbook for hotels, fair-day transfers, factory pacing, and an optional Guangzhou–Shenzhen add-on. China Travel X designs private custom ground days with no shopping-stop tours and can arrange flights and hotels as part of the journey—not as an OTA.

This guide is for: sourcing managers, importers, and small buyer teams who already have a reason to be on the floor and need the days around the halls to work.

This guide is not for: a dates-only recap, badge issuance, or a commission shopping circuit. We are not the organizer. Pre-register and collect the Overseas Buyer Badge through official Canton Fair channels; confirm the live schedule on cantonfair.org.cn before you ticket.

Which phase matches your sourcing

The 140th session is scheduled as three five-day phases at the China Import and Export Fair Complex (Canton Fair Complex), Pazhou, Haizhu, Guangzhou, with a published exhibition area of about 1.55 million m². Themes below follow the official sector framing (soft-cite cantonfair.org.cn and a MOFCOM/embassy introduction of the 140th Canton Fair). Schedules can change—confirm on the official site before booking.

PhaseDates (2026)Official theme (short)Typical buyer fit
115–19 OctAdvanced manufacturingElectronics & appliances, vehicles & smart mobility, industrial automation / intelligent manufacturing, new energy; Service Robots / AI zone
223–27 OctQuality home lifeBuilding & furniture, housewares, gifts & decorations; Fashion Jewelry Zone
331 Oct–4 NovBetter lifeHealth & recreation, toys / maternity, fashion; Intelligent Healthcare Zone
Intervals20–22 Oct and 28–30 OctNo onsite exhibitionFactory days, Shenzhen hop, or rest—do not invent hall access on interval dates

Do not stack two full phases unless you have a second team or a very narrow SKU list. One phase, mapped booths, and one factory follow-up beats a blur of halls. For furniture / FF&E follow-up in Lecong, pair with Foshan Furniture Industry Day.

Where should Canton Fair buyers stay in Guangzhou?

Stay in Pazhou (琶洲), Haizhu District, if Canton Fair hall days dominate your brief. The China Import and Export Fair Complex sits on the Pazhou waterfront at No. 382 Yuejiang Zhong Road. Metro Line 8 stations Pazhou and Xingangdong (新港东) are the practical baseline; on Phase 1 (15–19 Oct 2026), Phase 2 (23–27 Oct), and Phase 3 (31 Oct–4 Nov) mornings trains are crowded, so a 10–20 minute walk from a Pazhou hotel, or that hotel’s fair-week shuttle, usually beats a 45–70 minute taxi from Tianhe (天河) or Zhujiang New Town (珠江新城) when roads clog.

Choose Tianhe or Zhujiang New Town only if you also have off-complex meetings there and will accept a transfer tax every fair morning. Pazhou rooms surge in those windows; treat OTA rates as ranges, not quotes. China Travel X can include Pazhou or metro-linked hotels inside a private custom journey—no shopping-stop itinerary, not an OTA checkout. Confirm dates on cantonfair.org.cn before you lock nights.

Pazhou vs Tianhe / Zhujiang New Town (tradeoffs)

Stay areaUse it whenFair-morning cost
Pazhou / HaizhuHall walking, same-day supplier meetings at the complex, sample bagsWalk, Line 8, or hotel shuttle; surge hotel rates
TianheOff-complex meetings in Tianhe business towersLine 8 or car across the city; 45–70+ minutes when clogged
Zhujiang New TownFinance / MICE meetings plus evening restaurantsSame transfer tax as Tianhe on hall days

There is no honest public “best hotel” ranking here. Foreign-guest registration, fapiao type, and cancellation windows matter more than a star label. Share headcount and invoice needs on Plan; we quote on request.

Getting to Pazhou on fair days

Three tools, used on purpose—not a stack of all three every morning.

Metro Line 8 (Pazhou / Xingangdong). The baseline for a light bag and a mapped hall list. Fair mornings are crowded. Build 20–30 extra minutes versus a Sunday timetable. Do not treat Line 8 as a luggage strategy.

Hotel shuttle. Many Pazhou properties run fair-week shuttles to a complex gate. Confirm with the hotel—we do not publish invented shuttle PDFs or door-to-hall minutes.

Private car. Wins when you have samples, jet lag, a factory clock, or two people and rolling cases. From Tianhe or Zhujiang New Town, a car is a time purchase, not a scenic loop. From Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN) on arrival day, private transfer to Pazhou is the usual move after a long-haul; badge collection at an official alternative registration office (airport / Guangzhou South / designated hotels—see the organizer’s buyer notices) can happen before you ever reach a hall queue.

China Travel X can run private transfers as part of the journey. We do not sell a public airport-rate card for fair week.

How many days do you need for one Canton Fair phase plus a Shenzhen add-on?

Plan five to seven nights on the ground for one Canton Fair phase plus a Shenzhen add-on. Each official phase of the 140th Canton Fair is five exhibition days: Phase 1 15–19 Oct 2026, Phase 2 23–27 Oct, Phase 3 31 Oct–4 Nov, with intervals 20–22 Oct and 28–30 Oct. A compressed 4–5 day trip is arrival, three targeted hall days, and either a factory half-day or a Shenzhen hop—not all five halls plus a factory. Add one arrival buffer; do not badge-and-walk the morning after a long-haul. One factory visit in Guangzhou, Foshan, or Shenzhen is often a half day with traffic. Guangzhou–Shenzhen high-speed rail is about 30–40 minutes class. Use the extra day for Nanshan (南山) tech orientation or a Huaqiangbei (华强北) electronics-district walk framed as product reconnaissance, not a shopping-tour afternoon. If you also need APEC Shenzhen in mid-November, treat that as a separate trip after the fair.

Sample 4–5 day buyer flow

This is a compressed skeleton (one phase, not two). It is not a package.

DayFocus
1Arrive CAN; collect Overseas Buyer Badge at an official alternative office if open; Pazhou hotel; early night
2Mapped hall block A (pre-written booth list); no unscheduled factory
3Mapped hall block B; evening supplier dinner or rest
4Buffer, remaining must-see booths, or one factory half-day (Guangzhou / Foshan)
5Optional Shenzhen HSR add-on (Nanshan or Huaqiangbei reconnaissance) or depart

If you need all five exhibition days: add nights. A full phase with an arrival buffer is typically six nights before you even add Foshan or Shenzhen. One factory is often a half day; two factories in one calendar day is how samples get lost.

Foshan furniture / Lecong belongs on Foshan Furniture Industry Day when that cluster is already on the brief—no shopping-stop commissions.

Guangzhou–Shenzhen add-on

High-speed rail between Guangzhou and Shenzhen is a 30–40 minute class hop on the right train, not a half-day coach. Use it as +1 tech day, not as a mall circuit.

Nanshan (南山). Innovation-district orientation, pre-cleared campus or showroom visits only when access is confirmed, working lunch. We do not invent guaranteed named-campus VIP tours.

Huaqiangbei (华强北). Product and component reconnaissance—what is on the street, how stalls are organised—not a shopping-tour afternoon and not a suitcase of impulse electronics.

Depart from Shenzhen Bao’an (SZX) if the add-on sits at the end of the trip; return to CAN if you still have Guangzhou meetings. If your calendar continues to APEC Shenzhen 2026 (Leaders’ Meeting 18–19 November), that is a mid-November logistics problem, not a same-week bolt-on after 4 November—see the APEC Shenzhen 2026 business visitor playbook.

For overall China pacing outside a trade-fair window, how many days in China is the leisure-arc companion, not a substitute for hall days.

Practical checklist

  • Badge: Overseas buyers pre-register on the official Buyer Service System and follow overseas buyer guidelines. Collect the badge with the same original passport (or other eligible ID the organizer lists). China Travel X does not issue badges and is not the organizer.
  • Passport consistency: Booking name, badge name, and hotel registration must match the travel document you will present.
  • Entry / visa: Rules are passport-specific and they change. Confirm stay length and purpose on the National Immigration Administration and your embassy or visa centre. This page is not a visa ruling.
  • Alipay / WeChat Pay: Set up before you need a taxi or a hall café. Carry a small cash backup.
  • Complimentary China eSIM: Every traveller on a China Travel X private journey receives one eSIM—choose 10 days / 3 GB or 15 days / 5 GB (one per person). We set this up before arrival.
  • Hall map: Walk a pre-written booth list. Interval dates are not secret extra hall days.
  • Prices: Hotel and transfer figures for fair week are on request. We do not publish fake nightly rates.

How China Travel X helps

China Travel X is a private custom operator for international travellers—not a shopping-stop coach and not an OTA storefront.

What we can put inside a Canton Fair journey

  • Pazhou or metro-linked hotel coordination as part of the itinerary
  • Private driver for airport, factory, and fair-morning runs when Line 8 is the wrong tool
  • Bilingual support for factory days and off-complex meetings
  • Custom days: one Foshan industry module, one Shenzhen tech day, or a buffer—not a retail circuit
  • Flights and hotels as part of the journey when you want logistics handled
  • Complimentary 10d/3GB or 15d/5GB eSIM

What we do not do

  • Issue Canton Fair badges or replace organizer registration
  • Guarantee booth meetings or MOQ outcomes
  • Run shopping-stop tours or take retail commissions
  • Publish invented shuttle maps or fixed fair-week room rates

Soft next step. Share phase, dates, headcount, and whether you need a Foshan or Shenzhen day on Plan a trip or WhatsApp from this page. We will come back with a stay-district recommendation, transfer logic, and a custom-day sketch—priced on request.
