Overview
Book Bangkok if the checkup is the holiday and you want a hospital you can use in English without a coordinator. Book Shenzhen if the checkup is one morning and the rest of the week is a private China trip. China Travel X coordinates the Shenzhen morning. We do not book Bangkok hospitals. Educational travel planning, not medical advice.
Key takeaways
- Book Bangkok when the hospital is the holiday and you want English service without a coordinator. Book Shenzhen when the screen is one morning and the week is still a China trip.
- A written English report in Shenzhen is confirmed at booking. A public counter in the same city may only give you Chinese paperwork on the day.
- The 240-hour visa-free transit (57 countries on the NIA page updated 20 August 2026) is a transit stay with an onward ticket to a third country or region. It is not a tourist visa. Hainan’s 30-day policy allows medical treatment only inside Hainan.
- Read the bill. China Travel X list prices are on Medical Experiences. Bumrungrad publishes baht menus through 31 December 2026. Broker dollar ranges are not our quote.
- This page is travel planning, not medical advice. We coordinate the Shenzhen morning. Physicians at the facility do the clinical work.

Book Bangkok if the checkup is the holiday. Book Shenzhen if the checkup is one morning and you still want China after lunch.
The note we get usually holds two links. One is a Bangkok hospital page. The other is a Hong Kong flight, with Guangzhou or Foshan still on the calendar after the screen. Those are different weeks. Thailand's private hospitals are built for a person who wants the tests, the hotel, and English at the desk. Shenzhen is the move when the screen has to sit inside a private trip through the Greater Bay Area.
China Travel X has spent 3 years planning private trips and small groups in China, with no shopping stops. We coordinate a Shenzhen morning with a partner facility. Bangkok hospitals are yours to book direct. We are not a clinic directory for every Chinese city. How that Shenzhen morning works, what to bring, and how a voluntary screen differs from a visa medical exam, is already written in China Health Checkup for Foreigners. This page is the city choice.
This is educational travel planning. It is not medical advice. We do not tell you which tests to order. The physicians at the facility do that.
Who should book which city
| If this is you | Book | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| The hospital is the week, and you want English without a coordinator | Bangkok | Book the hospital on its own site. Bumrungrad publishes menus and a booking page. |
| You already fly into Hong Kong, Guangzhou, or Shenzhen, and the screen is one morning | Shenzhen | Read the checkup guide, then message us with dates and whether the written report must be in English. |
| You want a beach day and no mainland trains | Bangkok | Keep the hospital-and-hotel week. |
| You want Huaqiangbei, a Foshan day, or the Guangzhou–Shenzhen train after the screen | Shenzhen | Use the Guangzhou Shenzhen itinerary for the other days. |
| You need a mandatory visa or work medical exam | The official pathway | Our packages do not replace that exam. |
| Dental work, hair, or surgery is why you are flying | Neither product on this page | This guide is voluntary screening only. |
Shenzhen and Bangkok, side by side
| Shenzhen morning with China Travel X | Bangkok walk-up private hospital | |
|---|---|---|
| Best fit | One protected morning, then the rest of a private China trip | The checkup is the holiday |
| English | A written English report, confirmed when you book. A public counter in the same city may hand you Chinese paperwork only. | Flagship hospitals such as Bumrungrad run the visit in English and publish the menu in English. |
| Timing | The screen is a morning, once a slot is held. Keep it off the morning you land from a long flight. | Bumrungrad's own 2026 guide: about 1–2 weeks ahead for a standard package, 2–4 weeks for a comprehensive package or the December–February peak. |
| Getting in | A status that lets you enter Shenzhen. The 240-hour transit rule is a transit stay, not a tourist visa. | From 15 September 2026 Thailand's short exemption is for tourism. Treatment has its own visa category. |
| Price you can open | List prices on Medical Experiences. Essential from US$549 / US$699, Premium US$1,149 / US$1,299, Elite US$2,599 / US$2,799 (male / female). Confirm before you pay. | Bumrungrad Executive Program, in baht, through 31 December 2026: 16,300 male / 20,700 female, physician fee included. We do not convert that into a fixed dollar price. |

English, on paper
At our Shenzhen partner, the written English report is part of the booking, along with English-speaking assistance on the morning. If that PDF has to go home to your own doctor, say so in the first message. A walk-up window in a Chinese public hospital may work in Chinese only, or hand you a Chinese printout and a number on a screen. Confirm the report language before you fly. Do not leave it for the front desk on the day.
Bangkok's flagship private hospitals work the other way. English is the service language, and you can book the package yourself. That ease is why Thailand is louder in travel videos about medical trips. Shenzhen is the better fit when the rest of the week is already China, not when you want to invent a hospital on the morning you feel like one.
A smooth desk is not a diagnosis. An English PDF is not a promise that you are well. Clinical judgment belongs to the physicians. China Travel X coordinates the trip and the package. This page is travel planning, not medical advice.

Prices you can check
Line the bills up only after you read what each bill buys.
Shenzhen, our list prices. Checked on the live Medical Experiences pages on 23 October 2026:
| Tier | Male from | Female from |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | US$549 | US$699 |
| Premium | US$1,149 | US$1,299 |
| Elite | US$2,599 | US$2,799 |
These are list prices, not a quote for your week. Flights and hotels sit outside them. The figure covers a coordinated morning: hotel transfers, English-speaking assistance, a written English report, and a short Shenzhen sightseeing block. The test list for each tier lives on the package page and in the checkup guide. Confirm the current number before you pay.
Bangkok, one hospital's own menu. Bumrungrad's February 2026 checkup guide lists an Executive Program at 16,300 baht for men and 20,700 baht for women, physician fee included, with package prices valid through 31 December 2026 and subject to change. On that same page, broader programmes run from the high 20,000s of baht into the mid-50,000s (Holistic is listed at 49,500 male / 56,900 female). If Bangkok is the city, book it there. We will not publish a dollar conversion of those baht prices. The exchange rate moves, and the inclusions are a hospital package, not our coordinated morning.
Broker ranges, with the label on them. A clinic-broker comparison updated in July 2026, China Medical Checkup: China vs Thailand, puts a basic annual screen around US$150–450 in China and US$150–400 in Thailand, an executive package around US$600–1,050 versus US$500–1,500, a standalone whole-body MRI around US$450–750 versus US$800–1,500, and a PET-CT around US$600–1,200 versus US$1,500–2,500. The page calls these planning ranges from partner hospitals and published fee schedules. They are not a China Travel X quote, and they are not advice to order an MRI or a PET-CT. If a number is not on our medical pages or on the hospital's own page, it is someone else's estimate.
Headline entry prices can look close. The Shenzhen list price buys the morning and the logistics around it. The Bangkok tariff buys the hospital package. The broker ranges, not our list, are where advanced imaging is often quoted lower in China. Ask for the line items either way. A lower unit price on a scan is a facility-access fact in those write-ups. It is not a claim about which scan you should have.
Visas, transit, and the Hong Kong border
A checkup booking does not admit you. You need a status that matches the city, and you should read it yourself. What follows is travel orientation, not legal advice. Your passport and the officer at the port decide.
240-hour visa-free transit. The National Immigration Administration's visa-free transit interpretation, updated 20 August 2026, covers nationals of 57 countries. You need an ordinary passport and an onward ticket with a confirmed seat to a third country or region. You enter at one of 65 designated ports and stay in the permitted area for that port, for no more than 240 hours. The same page also describes the stay as no more than 10 days. The activities it names are tourism, business, visits, and family reunions. Work, study, and news reporting still need the appropriate visa.
Use this only when you are actually transiting. If Shenzhen is the whole trip, and the ticket home does not continue to a third country or region, the 240-hour rule does not carry the journey. Arrange a visa that fits, and read Visa and entry before you lock the morning.
Guangdong ports named in Shenzhen government notices include Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and the Shekou passenger port, plus Guangzhou Baiyun. A November 2025 Shenzhen government notice added further 240-hour entry ports, including West Kowloon station on the Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong high-speed rail, and brought the national total to 65. That notice describes facial-recognition clearance at Luohu, Futian, and Huanggang. It does not list those land borders as new 240-hour entry ports. Do not plan a transit-only entry through Luohu or Futian unless the current NIA port list says your entry is allowed there. Hong Kong counts as its own region on an onward ticket, which is why a Hong Kong–mainland–home routing sometimes fits. Confirm the port, the permitted area, and your nationality on the NIA page before you buy the flights. A Shenzhen morning is wasted if your permitted area is another province.
Hainan is a different policy. The NIA's regional visa-free page, also dated 20 August 2026, lets ordinary-passport holders from 61 countries stay up to 30 days inside Hainan for purposes that include medical treatment. The stay is inside Hainan. It does not admit you to Shenzhen for this morning. If the airport on the offer is Haikou or Sanya, you are looking at a Hainan trip, not a Greater Bay Area one.
Six days with a Hong Kong or Macao group is another official path: a tourist group organized by an agency registered in Hong Kong or Macao, into a listed set of Guangdong cities that includes Shenzhen, for up to 6 days. A private China Travel X trip is not that group stamp.
Thailand. From 15 September 2026 Thailand revoked the 60-day visa exemption. The government notice says the revised short exemption is for tourism. If medical treatment is the reason for the flight, the Thai e-visa medical-treatment page lists a separate category for treatment under 60 days and asks for a letter of appointment from the hospital, plus financial evidence. Longer treatment is another category. A holiday in Bangkok can still be a holiday. Do not treat a tourism exemption as a medical visa because the hospital was easy to book online. Check your own passport.
The morning, then the rest of the trip
Keep the afternoon quiet. The Shenzhen screen is a low-sightseeing morning, then lunch, then a walk if you want one: Shenzhen Bay, Nantou, or the hotel. The next day can be the Guangzhou–Shenzhen train, a Hong Kong border crossing, Huaqiangbei, or the flight onward. For the length of a full China trip, start with how many days in China. The Greater Bay Area hub is here.
If you are sleeping in Hong Kong and crossing for the morning, pick the port from the border guide: Luohu, Futian, Huanggang, Shenzhen Bay, or the West Kowloon train. The crossing and the visa stamp are separate problems from the hospital slot. Leave the red-eye off the checkup morning. Do not schedule a same-day flight out of Shenzhen an hour after you stand up from the last test.

Paying the Shenzhen bill
If the week is in China, set up Alipay or WeChat Pay before you fly. Our setup guide, checked on 12 October 2026 against Alipay, Tencent, and People's Bank of China pages, puts the foreign-card ceiling at US$5,000 per payment and US$50,000 a year after passport verification. Payments of CNY 200 or less carry no app fee. Above that, the fee is 3% of the whole amount. A checkup list price can sit above one payment cap. Ask which card terminal the partner counter uses, and keep the fapiao (发票) and the itemised bill. Travel insurance may refuse an elective screen. Read the policy before you count on a reimbursement.
What this page leaves out
Surgery, dental implants, hair, and long inpatient care. A mandatory visa or work medical exam. A Beijing or Shanghai hospital list. A booking at a Bangkok hospital. Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Ho Chi Minh City have screening markets too. The question in our inbox is narrower: Bangkok for the week, or Shenzhen for the morning on a China trip.
If the week is already half booked
If Bangkok is the answer, book the hospital and take the week. If Shenzhen is the answer, send the dates, how many of you are coming, and whether the written report has to be in English. WhatsApp +86 177 2263 6816, or email g9355080@gmail.com. You can also start on Plan. We will tell you whether the morning fits the route you already hold. We will quote from the live Essential, Premium, and Elite list, and we will say so if a transit stamp does not cover the entry you are planning.

Guangzhou Shenzhen Itinerary: 2 Days or 3 Days 2 Nights, Without Backtracking
For a Guangzhou Shenzhen itinerary of 3 days 2 nights, sleep one night in Guangzhou and one in Shenzhen, travel west to east, and leave from Shenzhen toward Hong Kong or Bao'an Airport. With only 2 days, give each city one full day and let the 29-minute train from Guangzhou South to Shenzhen North do the work between them.

For a Hong Kong–Shenzhen day trip, pick the port by district: Lo Wu/Luohu for Dongmen, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line/Futian for Futian CBD, Shenzhen Bay for Nanshan/Shekou, West Kowloon HSR when documents are ready, and Huanggang for 24-hour passenger timing after its July 2026 co-located HK Port Area opened. How Many Days Do You Need in China? 7, 10 & 14-Day Private Routes
For a first trip to China, 10–14 days on the ground is the sweet spot. Seven days works for two cities; 21 days is a deep regional add-on, not “see everything.” Private 7/10/14-day routes cover Beijing–Xi’an–Shanghai plus optional Chengdu or Zhangjiajie. Private custom or small groups, no shopping-stop tours, $180–$380 pp/day (2–6 pax). Confirm visa-free rules on the National Immigration Administration.
